Medical Information & Data Structuring Specialist
$80,000–$95,000, DOE
A nonprofit medical referral organization is looking for a highly organized, medically literate candidate to research, organize, classify, and structure complex medical information for their internal database and projects. Working closely with leadership, this person will support foundational medical information initiatives spanning research, terminology standardization, metadata tagging, and quality review.
Key Responsibilities:Research & Medical Literacy
- Read and interpret medical literature and other medical information sources
- Apply familiarity with medical specialties and clinical terminology to project work
- Conduct strong internet research, distinguishing reliable sources from weak ones
Data Organization & Structuring
- Turn messy or unstructured information into clean, usable data
- Organize, sort, filter, and format structured data with strong spreadsheet skills
- Support terminology standardization, metadata tagging, and quality review
Tools & Collaboration
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to support research, organization, and workflow efficiency, with careful source verification and human review
- Work closely with leadership on foundational medical information projects
- Apply thoughtful problem-solving within an internal framework
Qualifications:
- Medical literacy — ability to read and interpret medical literature and other medical information sources
- Familiarity with medical specialties and clinical terminology
- Strong data literacy, including spreadsheet skills (sorting, filtering, formatting, organizing structured data)
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
- Experience using AI tools thoughtfully, with careful source verification and human review
- Ability to turn messy or unstructured information into clean, usable data
- Strong internet research skills and ability to assess source reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with health information management, clinical research, medical librarianship, taxonomy, data operations, or healthcare data projects
- Strong understanding of medical specialties, subspecialties, diseases, procedures, treatments, and terminology relationships
- Experience with CRM systems, Salesforce, structured databases, or controlled vocabularies
- Exposure to metadata tagging, classification systems, taxonomies, or structured knowledge systems
- Clinical background, advanced health-science training, or strong healthcare research experience combined with strong data skills
- Backgrounds such as health information management, medical librarianship, clinical research, pre-med or health-science programs, public health, biology, neuroscience, healthcare data operations, or clinically experienced PA/NP/medical research environments
