Technician

The Technician operates heavy equipment on commercial remediation and drilling projects, focusing on the safe movement of soil and other materials. This role requires strong proficiency with excavators and dozers, including multiple control systems, and the ability to support the crew with ground work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators and dozers to move soil and other materials safely and efficiently on commercial remediation and drilling projects.
  • Use both CAT and DEERE control systems on excavators with confidence and accuracy.
  • Assist the crew on the ground with tasks related to site preparation, remediation activities, and drilling operations.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment onto trailers in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Follow all safety procedures and environmental guidelines while working on remediation sites.
  • Work collaboratively with a crew of 2–5 people, respecting each person's specialized role on the project.
  • Adapt to changing site conditions, including working in harsh weather such as extreme heat or cold.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order by reporting issues and supporting basic upkeep as directed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency operating excavators and dozers in a construction or heavy equipment environment.
  • Ability to operate excavators using both CAT and DEERE control systems.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment on commercial remediation or drilling projects.
  • Skill in loading and unloading heavy equipment on trailers.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with a current 8-hour refresher.
  • Understanding of safety practices related to heavy equipment operation and remediation work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating skid steers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment.
  • CDL Class A license is a strong plus.
  • Experience in construction or heavy equipment operation (HEO).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, specialized crew.

Work Environment

The Technician works on commercial remediation and drilling sites as part of a crew of approximately 2–5 people, each with specialized responsibilities. The role is primarily field-based and involves daily operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, and backhoes. Work takes place outdoors in varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $28.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
