HVAC Installer

This role focuses on the installation and field fabrication of HVAC duct systems, including sheet metal, spiral, and oval ductwork. You will perform roof top cut-ins, fan installations, and a variety of sheet metal tasks to support a large, multi-year project. The position requires strong hands-on skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints to deliver high-quality HVAC installations.

Responsibilities
  • Install a variety of duct systems, including standard ductwork, spiral duct, and oval duct, in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform sheet metal installation for HVAC systems, ensuring accurate measurements, clean cuts, and secure connections.
  • Execute roof top cut-ins to accommodate new ductwork and equipment, following safety procedures and structural guidelines.
  • Carry out field fabrication of sheet metal components and duct sections to fit site-specific conditions and layouts.
  • Install fans and related HVAC components, ensuring proper alignment, support, and connection to duct systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and installation drawings to plan and complete ductwork and sheet metal installations.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to cut, form, assemble, and secure sheet metal and ductwork.
  • Inspect completed installations for quality, fit, and function, making adjustments as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and team members on-site to coordinate installation activities and maintain project timelines.
  • Follow all safety regulations and site-specific requirements while performing installation and fabrication tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal installation for HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in installing ductwork, including spiral duct and oval duct configurations.
  • Ability to perform field fabrication of sheet metal and duct components on-site.
  • Experience with roof top cut-ins related to HVAC and duct installations.
  • Capability to install fans and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings for HVAC installations.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and tools.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • SST 10 certification.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working as a sheet metal worker or tin knocker in HVAC installation environments.
  • Familiarity with a range of HVAC installation practices, including ductwork layout and support methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean, precise installations.
  • Ability to work efficiently on fast-paced construction projects and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working at heights and on rooftops as required by project scope.

Work Environment

The work takes place on a construction site located at 280 Kent Avenue, with standard hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role involves working in an active jobsite setting, including rooftops and interior spaces, where HVAC systems and sheet metal components are installed. You will use typical sheet metal and HVAC installation tools and equipment in a physically demanding environment that may require standing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.

Appropriate jobsite attire and personal protective equipment are required at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
