Youth Counselor ORR; Bilingual Spanish

Position: Youth Counselor ORR (Bilingual Spanish)
Heart Share St. Vincent's Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program is dedicated to providing 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12, with a supportive, nurturing environment through transitional foster homes, daily education Monday - Friday, and supportive wrap-around services in the Sunset Park section of New York City. Our program is rooted in ensuring that service delivery is trauma informed, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of each child while maintaining all program requirements of ORR.

Nuevo Camino is looking for a Youth Counselor providing supervision, support, and direction to children in the Unaccompanied Minor program while promoting growth and development; completes all required logs, forms, and reports, participates in meetings as scheduled; accompanies groups or individual children for outside activities, transfers, or appointments as scheduled. Nuevo Camino is looking to hire staff to fill the three shifts with rotating weekend coverage:

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

• Training/Experience in youth social services required.
• Must be highly organized and able to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with team
• Strong interest in working with immigrant young persons
• Computer knowledge and writing skills
• HSVS requires all new hires to provide proof of vaccination prior to their start date. Employees who require an accommodation for medical or religious reasons should notify Human Resources.

• Fluent and Bilingual in Spanish and English required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid NYS Driver's License required
• 2 years of similar experience
