Job Details Description

The TST Preventive Intern is responsible for providing case management and counseling using the Trauma Systems therapy (TST) model to families with children who have been exposed to traumatic events and display maladaptive behaviors as a result of their exposure to the trauma. The TST intern works to strengthen the relationship between the child/ren and their caretakers and social environment with the goal of restoring safety, attachment and appropriate affect.

The intern works closely with the Field Instructor to insure all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with model fidelity and the standards of ACS and SCO Family of Services. The area covered is all of Brooklyn.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with families to provide assessment, treatment planning, interventions and case management to prevent foster care and promote wellbeing.
  • Adhere to fidelity of the TST model:
    Work within model structure regarding case contacts, interventions, field instruction/supervision, documentation and length of treatment.
  • Participate in weekly TST Consultation meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team including Case Aide, Psychiatrist/Nurse Practitioner and legal advocate.
  • Conduct regular home and office visits, and other field visits as needed.
  • Provide clinically focused case management including advocacy and referral.
  • Assess safety and risk and implement crisis management plans and safety plans as needed.
  • Schedule and participate in conferences with families, community partners and ACS using the Family Team Conferencing (FTC) model.
  • Complete all required documentation and data entry within deadlines.
  • Utilize mobile technology to complete documentation.
  • Attend individual field instruction and all necessary meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education

Required High School or better.
