SummaryJob Description
Performs professional level social casework duties in developing and providing support services for foster parents, conducting home studies/home assessments and MAPP/Kinship Trainings for the agency. Under general supervision, the employee will perform both field and office work and provide comprehensive assessments of the foster/adoptive homes as well as the families.
Principle Responsibilities- Conduct and complete recertifications, home visits and collect documents; relocations and re-assessing inactive homes.
- Organize and facilitate Kinship MAPP/Deciding Together trainings.
- Represent the agency at City, State and other meetings and events.
- Work collaboratively as a team member with Intake/Training Department.
- Enters documentation in LFCS Intranet as well as OCFS Connections database.
Some knowledge of the principles and practices of social casework. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the care and treatment of children as well as foster homes. Ability to establish effective working relationship with others, provide quality assessment and verify information needed through interviews. Ability to prepare and present clear, accurate and comprehensive reports on foster homes.
RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED with relevant experience required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's or bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred. GPSII/MAPP Leader Certification preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Travel RequirementsThis position is in Brooklyn with travel to other locations. A valid NYS driver's license is required if driving a vehicle. Public transportation may also be used.
