CPC is the nation's largest Asian American social services organization and serves as a trusted community anchor to over 80,000 community members who are served by CPC annually through 50+ high-quality programs and services across 35 sites in New York City.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

The Bilingual Resource Center supports parents, families, and historically underserved communities of those with developmental disabilities by providing outreach, hands-on support, and guidance to help families navigate resources and services. With a focus on lower-income and immigrant families, it connects communities to educational, healthcare, social, and community-based programs, helping to remove barriers and make support more accessible.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Caseworker will provide direct support and advocacy to families of children with developmental disabilities, including, but not limited to, assistance with language access and translation support. This position works closely with parents to help them understand their children's educational needs, navigate the IEP process, and access community-based services. The Caseworker also supports program operations through documentation, reporting, outreach, and coordination with staff, supervisors, and funding sources.

Alongside the Supervisor, the Caseworker will help manage the weekday and weekend components of the program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide family support such as training for family members, counseling, referral, advocacy, translation, and outreach to non-English speaking families with children who have developmental disabilities
  • Assist parents and their children to understand their school IEP, by requesting translation support
  • Connect families to a variety of community resources such as immigration services, healthcare services, legal services, and other government benefits
  • Coordinate a parent support group to provide networking and supportive opportunities for families
  • Work with supervisor to recruit and meet target enrollment numbers as necessary
  • Provide programmatic and administrative support to on-site and off-site staff, including the development, implementation, maintenance of staff members' individual work schedules, work plans and staff agreements
  • Maintain progress notes and case review meeting notes for reporting and record keeping
  • Prepare and maintain case notes and required program documentation for site visits and audits.
  • Submit required reports in a timely manner and coordinate with funding sources as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor and Community Services Director
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in health or human service-related field from an accredited college plus 1 year of social service experience or an Associate's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Capability, knowledge and experience to work with the I/DD population as well as clients with disabilities and being sensitive to individual needs

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication, cooperation, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as operate within a team dynamic
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Proficient in basic reading, writing, and verbal English
  • Bilingual in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a must
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite

Additional Requirement:

  • Able to work weekends

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

  • $24.73 - $26.93 per hour; 35 hours per week; schedule includes weekdays and weekends during the day
