About the Opportunity:
Chelsea Piers Field House Brooklyn seeks Gymnastics Instructors. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and have a sports background.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Be vocal and animated: Bring energy and enthusiasm to each class you teach.
- Be punctual: Setting up your teaching area before the start of classes, cleaning up your area after class. Begin and end your classes and lessons on time.
- Skill Knowledge: A background in competitive gymnastics is helpful but not required. Training in the Chelsea Piers Gymnastics curriculum is provided. Instructors must be willing and able to demonstrate and communicate gymnastics skills and levels in the curriculum.
- Classroom Management: Able to organize your classes based on your athletes abilities. Convey key points about gymnastics in articulate/age appropriate manner to athletes.
- Teamwork: Be willing to help your teammates. Have the flexibility to teach in different classes to give the best possible instruction when asked.
- Be prepared for each class: Know your students names and where they are in the program progression. Be able to keep tidy notes about their progress that are accessible onsite.
- Complete progress reports and report cards to give valuable feedback to our customers by the designated deadlines established by the program director.
- Attendance and participation during trainings: Ability and willingness to complete our training program. Attended and participate in all staff meetings and in-service trainings held throughout each semester.
- Teach gymnastics/ninja recreational classes, camp and birthday activities.
- Create a fun, safe, and productive environment.
- Follow class rotation schedule.
- Use positive communication with athletes, families and co-workers.
- Exhibits an energetic, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times
- Ability to work independently or within a group
- Willingness to learn from and share knowledge with coworkers in a collaborative environment
- Enjoys working in a team environment
- Must be energetic and enthusiastic
- Punctual and reliable
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times (CP Uniform)
- Willingness to work varied shifts
- Practice safe work habits
- Ability to be on your feet for multiple hours at a time
