Airswift is seeking an Education & Public Programs Manager to support Wind Scape Brooklyn on a 2‑year contract based in Brooklyn, NY. The role, focused on renewable energy education, will involve program design, community engagement, youth development, and public event orchestration. Schedule is Tuesday through Saturday with occasional evening events. Target Salary: $100,000 - $150,000/year.
Responsibilities- Program Design & Execution
- Develop and implement K‑12 school and camp field trips aligned with NGSS and Amplify Science.
- Coordinate visits with school teachers; create or adapt lesson plans.
- Manage trip reservation portal; collect data, feedback, and testimonials.
- Build community and stakeholder networks across local schools and institutions.
- Youth Development Leadership
- Lead the center’s place‑based youth program, Wind Scape Labs, with the local high school.
- Organize visits with subject matter experts, mentor students, coordinate design challenges and capstones, and collect participant feedback.
- Public Programs & Event Orchestration
- Design and spearhead programs and special events aligned with the mission for diverse audiences during public open hours and port tours.
- Deliver educational tours to school children, climate advocates, elected officials, and the general public.
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain dynamic exhibits that capture visitor interest.
- Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with community partners, industry experts, and local organizations.
- Spearhead community science initiatives and hands‑on projects.
- Program Enhancement & Insights
- Conduct research on educational and youth development trends; refresh offerings.
- Design and implement evaluation strategies for all programs and events; use data to guide improvements.
- Communication & Social Media
- Work with the team to produce compelling social media content highlighting activities and educational insights.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, communications, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience with a minimum of 2 years in program design and execution, preferably in museums, educational settings, or environmental contexts.
- Proven success in engaging and expanding diverse age groups through programs and events.
- Expertise in NGSS and/or Amplify Science.
- Experience with educational research and program evaluation.
- Strong commitment to accessibility and inclusion in educational settings.
- Skills in community engagement and partnership building.
- Passion for science, engineering, the environment, education, and youth development.
- Proficiency in a second language such as Spanish, Mandarin, or Arabic.
- Experience with social media and marketing communications.
