Lead Closing Officer – OverviewThe Lead Closing Officer provides advance closing expertise and execution support for a national team of Real Estate Loan Closing Officers responsible for closing complex commercial real estate loans for the Institutional Capital Group (ICG), including the Institutional Real Estate (IRE) and Healthcare (HC) lines of business within Key Bank Real Estate Capital (KBREC).
Lead Closing Officer – Responsibilities• Oversee and support review of third‑party reports and insurance policies.
• Prepare funding notices for syndicated lending partners.
• Produce client closing statements.
• Assist with negotiation of loan documents.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Closing Officers.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, federal regulations, and bank standards.
• Oversee post‑closing requirements and subsequent loan modifications.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the closing and servicing lifecycle.
Manage end‑to‑end pre‑ and post‑closing activities for complex loan structures.
Provide subject‑matter expertise throughout the closing process.
Coordinate timelines and monitor progress of conditions.
Analyze and review loan documentation for conformity with credit approval and regulatory requirements.
Engage external parties including legal counsel, title agents, insurance agents, and syndication banks.
Review third‑party reports and collateral documentation for compliance.
Coordinate funding, booking, and settlement of transactions.
Maintain system knowledge and data integrity in LoanIQ and other systems.
Identify, resolve, and elevate risks, exceptions, and issues.
Ensure adherence to compliance and fiduciary requirements.
Partner with Servicing Officers for coordinated closing, funding, and handoff to servicing.
Serve as a mentor and provide onsite training and guidance.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Paralegal training, law degree and/or LPO license preferred.
3+ years of related experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
Experience with commercial real estate loan financing, including REITs, title/liens, insurance, contracts, leases, AIA documents, project budgets, and compliance with governmental legal requirements.
Strong understanding of commercial lending concepts.
Proficiency in commercial loan documentation and closing.
Familiarity with commercial loan accounting systems, including LIQ.
Solution‑oriented and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent decision‑making and judgment.
Ability to work independently.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Effective planning and organizational abilities.
Strong aptitude for analysis, systems and mathematics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
General office: prolonged sitting, frequent computer use, occasional lifting of backpacks up to 10 lbs.

Lead Closing Officer – Compensation & BenefitsBase salary range: $57,000.00 – $87,000.00 annually.
Eligibility for incentive compensation: production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
