Job Summary

Pharmacy Manager leads a pharmacy team to deliver safe, accurate dispensing, counseling, and immunization services while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop pharmacy team to model best practices and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Oversee bench shifts, coach performance, and manage scheduling.
  • Ensure accurate prescription fulfillment following workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
  • Improve patient experiences through empathy, counseling, and issue resolution.
  • Offer and administer immunizations and other clinical services such as COVID/Flu and hormonal contraception as permitted.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, especially cold‑chain products, following best practices.
  • Conduct onboarding for technicians and pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure.
  • Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy and federal regulations, escalating issues as needed.
  • Partner with Store Manager to build a cross‑trained talent pipeline and manage cross‑training progress.
  • Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, delivering performance reviews and closing competency gaps.
  • Review operational reports, identify workflow and service gaps, and implement improvement plans.
  • Establish a safe, inclusive, and empowered workplace with psychological safety and open feedback.
  • Maintain and expand clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs.
  • Support pharmacist‑delivered clinical care, ensuring adherence to federal and state laws, proprietary policies, and controlled substance dispensing rules.
Required Qualifications
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of the store.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA excluded parties list.
  • 1‑2 years of pharmacist experience.
  • Regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations.
  • Ability to resolve challenging interactions and choose appropriate actions.
  • Physical capabilities: mobility, standing, lifting up to 20 lbs, and repetitive finger use.
  • Team management and leadership proficiency, including coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program.
  • 3‑5 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
  • Willingness to work at the home store and other market locations as needed.
