Summary:

Performs key accounting duties in support of The Metro Health System (MHS) including monthly journal entries, financial analysis, reconciliations, and other required reporting for grants with lower levels of complexity and assigned areas of accounting. Maintains & monitors financial aspects of various Federal, State, and locally-funded grants and contracts awarded to MHS. Works collaboratively with others to support accounting, financial reporting and any other related activities including identified improvements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of software products, with a minimum of intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to use a diplomatic approach with customers.
  • Able to function at a high level in a demanding environment.
  • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed and approved by management (i.e. during the month-end close process).
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Experience working in an Accounting capacity in the Healthcare industry.
  • Experience with financial grant reporting, including knowledge of current regulations from the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Physical Requirements:
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
  • May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
  • Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
