Position: Criminal-Traffic Clerk I

Specialized clerical work involving processing paperwork and documentation related to criminal and traffic cases, update and maintain criminal and traffic program records, work with the public and outside agencies concerning criminal and traffic issues and provide accurate information. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and procedures.

  • Input accurate data into the criminal, traffic and imaging system meeting performance time standards.
  • Assist outside agencies and callers courteously and promptly.
  • Conduct necessary research to provide accurate information regarding files or explanations to assure compliance with the laws and regulations.
  • Intake new criminal and traffic cases, process, copy and distribute applicable court documentation to appropriate parties and agencies.
  • Process surety bonds and cash bonds accurately.
  • Generate and review necessary dockets for criminal and traffic court.
  • Prepare necessary documentation to ensure compliance of all court activities including the preparation and distribution of capiases, warrants and court orders as required.
  • Open, clock-in and sort mail when assigned.
  • Prepare, issue and execute subpoenas and summonses as needed.
  • Process criminal appeals.
  • Ensure confidentiality of confidential information contained in criminal records.
  • Assist in filing appropriate documentation in court files as needed, including processing e-portal filings.
  • Reinstate suspended driver's licenses and print histories from the DHSMV system as needed.
  • Process E-Citations.
  • Process VOR requests.
  • Attend court hearings as needed.
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.

    Education

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience

    Experience in related field preferred.

    Computer, calculator, copier, facsimile, telephone.

    Essential Physical Skills

    Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction); acceptable hearing (with or without correction); ability to access, input and retrieve information from a personal computer; ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data; ability to communicate orally in order to answer the telephone; ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.

    Climbing, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

    Working Conditions

    Office environment. Work closely with others. Must have reliable transportation which employee may be required to use if a County vehicle is not available. Flexible hours and travel as required.
