Music Band Instructor

Band Director plans instrumental music curriculum, conducts rehearsals, and manages public performances. Key duties typically include teaching music theory and performance, organizing concerts or marching events, and maintaining school instruments.

Core Responsibilities

• Instruction: Teach students proper technique, rhythm, and theory for woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments.
• Rehearsals & Performances: Lead concert band, jazz band, or marching band practices and direct public shows, festivals, and competitions.
• Program Management: Maintain instrument inventory, manage music libraries, and coordinate travel or logistics for events.
• Student Assessment: Evaluate musical growth, grade student progress, and enforce positive classroom behavior rules.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in music education or a related field.
• Certification: Valid state educator certification or temporary music teaching license or 3 years’ experience teaching.
• Skills: Proficient in multiple-band instruments, strong organizational skills, and effective communication.
