Sales Engineer Position Overview:

The Sales Engineer primary function to is establish the cost estimate for new customer development projects.

Additionally, the Sales Engineer acts as a liaison between the customer and CMI Engineering.

To be successful in this role, the Sales Engineer will be an integral part of a cross functional team to ensure accurate information is collected in order to complete the cost estimate.

Essential Job Functions
:
  • Facilitate initial customer communication and present New Business Opportunities to CMI Technical Team.
  • Review specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to establish product design requirements and feasibility (design and manufacture).
  • Maintain proactive and collaborative communication with the sales and engineering teams to ensure proper information transfer regarding technical requirements.

    Including any/all design exceptions and DFM (Design for Manufacture) Recommendations.

    Captures all respective items in the cost estimate.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production Management to establish and document accurate project development costs and lead times for Non-Recurring Engineering Fees, Tooling (including Fixtures, Jigs and Gauges), Prototypes and Production.
  • Schedule and Lead Technical and Costing Reviews with CMI Technical Team as required.

    Finalize all cost estimates prior to customer proposal.
  • Ensures the Sales Team has all the required information to submit timely customer proposal.
  • Establishes customer rapport and builds customer relationships through the development process.
  • Develop tools and processes to streamline cost estimating process to reduce proposal turn‑around time.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology – (preferred) or 5+ years of costing BLDC/PMDC Electric Motors, machining and/or fabricating experience (required in lieu of a degree).
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in related industry (required).
  • Previous Sales Engineer and Costing experience in BLDC/PMDC Electric Motors, Machining and or Metal Fabrication for Medical Devices, Industrial and Military/Aerospace products – (preferred).
Additional Qualifications:
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and sales proposals
  • Proven record of accomplishment
  • Team player with innovative ideas and attention to detail
  • Understanding of sales and costing techniques

Training: As defined within the CMI training matrix.

Full Time 7:30-4 Monday through Friday

Position Overview:

The Metrology & Calibration Technician is responsible for performing advanced dimensional inspection of machined components, tooling, fixtures, and production parts using CMMs and other precision measurement technologies. This role programs and operates CMM equipment, conducts complex GD&T-based measurements, and ensures all inspection results meet engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.

Additionally, this position owns the calibration program for all measurement devices used in both the machine shop and production areas, including scheduling, performing, and documenting calibrations in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820. The technician ensures full traceability, maintains calibration records, and works closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Dimensional Inspection & CMM Programming
    • Program, set up, and operate CMM systems for inspection of machined components, stamping tools, fixtures, and jigs.
    • Perform advanced dimensional and GD&T inspections using a variety of metrology instruments.
    • Generate detailed inspection reports for engineering, manufacturing engineers, and quality records.
    • Support root-cause investigations for NCR’s, tooling issues, or dimensional nonconformances.
    • Collaborate with machinists, engineers and toolmakers to verify and adjust machining processes.
  • Calibration
    • Manage and execute the internal calibration schedule for all measurement devices used in the machine shop and production areas.
