The Powerplant Engineer is responsible for preparing and clarifying aircraft‑specific engine type repair work scopes and evaluating/predicting estimated on‑wing engine operation times based on build requirements. The position requires technical advisory and guidance in the disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of specific types of jet engines. The Engineer supports other functions such as Repair Materials and Quality in routine technical questions and issues.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engine repair work scopes and associated work instructions considering service bulletins, advisories, performance requirements, and modification requirements.
  • Review incoming records for work scope applicability and ensure execution of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals and technical data into actionable digital format.
  • Partner with Production and Planning to coordinate work scopes for efficient engine repairs worldwide.
  • Initiate and follow through disposition of DRs/DICAs, engaging OEM Product Support Engineering to eliminate repair constraints.
  • Prepare Engineering Orders for repairs or alterations to engines and components.
  • Apply technical knowledge to wide‑body and narrow‑body commercial engines, including CF6‑80, PW4000, GE90, Trent 800, CFM
    56, and CF34.
  • Participate in problem‑solving to reach technical solutions.
  • Resolve technical questions from shop regarding work scope, tooling, consumables, and configuration.
  • Prepare engineering substantiation for minor repairs.
  • Analyze and develop tooling equivalents to support shop tooling constraints.
  • Recommend alternate solutions when faced with challenges.
  • Support Operations with assembly, configuration, inspection, and repair problem solving.
  • Evaluate engine performance trends and troubleshoot recommendations.
  • Assist Operations in troubleshooting rejected engines in a test cell.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement programs and training requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or at least 15 years of direct experience in Aerospace Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) or Engine OEM.
  • Minimum eight years of experience with CF6, CFM
    56, CF34, GE90, and Trent 800 engine series.
  • FAA Powerplant License preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge and development skills in DER Repairs.
  • Extensive jet engine troubleshooting experience (On‑wing, Ground, and Test Cell).
  • Ability to decipher Engine Condition Monitoring and Trending.
  • Project & Production Management skills highly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Project and Excel, with ability to create plots or timelines for production goals.
  • Strong focus on technical planning and integrity; team‑oriented.
  • Self‑motivated with prioritization and timeline focus.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, push, pull, climb on engines, and lift 15 pounds.
  • Sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Wear eye and respiratory protection.
