Join our Government and Community Affairs OfficeOpportunity to serve as the District's local liaison for local elected officials, county and municipal utilities, appointed officials, and business and community leaders. Based out of the Brooksville office. Geographical coverage includes Hernando, Sumter, Marion, Citrus, Lake and Levy counties.
Mission: oversee coordinating and implementing the District's intergovernmental strategies for operational and strategic priorities and address local water resource issues.
Success requires: self motivation and discipline, strong sense of ethics, proven relationship building, conflict management, strong familiarity with local government and community affairs, and consensus building.
Candidate must be a Florida resident and willing to reside or relocate to the Northern Planning Region:
Hernando, Citrus, Sumter, Marion, Lake or Levy counties.

The starting salary ranges reflect the minimum to approximately 50% of the respective pay grades and are based on education and experience.
Essential Functions- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal government elected officials and staff, key state agency personnel, chambers of commerce, and community-based organizations.
- Monitor and participate in local commission and council meetings, local and regional community boards, and provide government affairs support to external constituents.
- Provide internal and external constituent service.
- Support internal bureaus and represent the District throughout a defined geographic region.
- Develop, coordinate, and/or administer responses to inquiries regarding the organization.
- Provide counsel and policy-related assistance to department directors and executive staff.
- Participate in District emergency management activities and other departmental activities and perform other duties as needed.
- Work with diverse stakeholders, build mutually-beneficial relationships, resolve conflicts and work with little supervision.
Standard office environment with required travel to District service offices and other organizations’ work locations. Early morning, holiday, evening, or weekend hours may be required. Approximately 60-80% of time may be spent outside the office attending meetings and providing assistance. Considerable travel, including some overnight, is required.
During emergency management activities, employee may be subject to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, on-call, including nights, weekends or holidays.
