We are seeking a Lactation Consultant Registered Nurse for our Obstetrics Unit. You will provide clinical expertise and teaching to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a high acuity environment with emphasis on post hospital teaching.
Responsibilities- Assess patient lactation needs.
- Implement a care plan to ensure adequate infant nutrition.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide patient, staff and community education and support.
- Instruct patients and families regarding lactation.
- Maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
- Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure; if compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
- RN Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
- Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in lactation consulting; previous nursing experience with mother-child preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC skills.
