Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the department’s requirements, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values.

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s); document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests; anticipate patient needs to resolve them proactively.
• Teach patients/families/caregivers about their medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology to ensure understanding.
• Teach patients/families about any non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepare patients and families for future self‑management.

• Licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure; active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire if compact license held.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Current National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required; new hires must obtain within 6 months of hire, transferring employees within 6 months of hire.
• National Board Certification (CEN) highly preferred; required after one year of ER experience.
• Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/understand written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
