Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions quickly, and recommend appropriate items.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point‑of‑Sale computer system and provide excellent service.
  • Respond to guest comments and phone calls courteously and professionally; use the provided greeting and, if needed, elevate issues to the Store Manager.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates and conducting training in policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance to align with guest service expectations.
  • Maintain timely recognition and feedback for associates; input written feedback into the Workday/HR system.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before shifts.
  • Schedule store associates, enforce scheduling guidelines, and supervise staffing levels.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify associate compensation.
  • Keep all store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
  • Control inventory and protect company assets through loss prevention measures.
  • Support store team in exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; manage closeout paperwork, cash, and bank deposits.
  • Verify shipments, handle discrepancies, and conduct inventories.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately.
  • Maintain safety awareness for associates and guests; report injuries promptly.
  • Maintain store records and ensure manuals are current.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies, the Associate Handbook, Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • Preferred experience:

    at least 6 months retail management and 2 years retail sales, guest service, or management.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Reliable, trustworthy, good judgment.
  • Work alone; stand and move throughout store up to 12 hours.
  • Bend, stoop, crouch, balance, stretch, reach, climb ladders, lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Acquire awareness of military ranks for positions on military bases, if applicable.
