Essential job functions:
- directs pedestrians at the assigned street or highway location and provides smooth traffic flow.
- reports violations of traffic laws.
- promotes positive public relations between the sheriff's office and the community.
- reports to duty at designated times. Times may vary according to post location.
- performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
qualifications: a. Training and experience
- high school diploma, ged or equivalent.
b. Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- knowledge and/or ability to learn basic traffic laws.
- knowledge and/or ability to safety procedures.
- ability to work with minimal supervision.
- skills in dealing effectively and courteously with students, coworkers, supervisors, deputies and the public.
essential physical skills:
- ability to communicate verbally.
- acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
- acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
- ability to stand for long periods of time.
- ability to respond quickly if needed.
