Essential job functions:

• directs pedestrians at the assigned street or highway location and provides smooth traffic flow.
• reports violations of traffic laws.
• promotes positive public relations between the sheriff's office and the community.
• reports to duty at designated times. Times may vary according to post location.
• performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

qualifications: a. Training and experience

• high school diploma, ged or equivalent.

b. Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• knowledge and/or ability to learn basic traffic laws.
• knowledge and/or ability to safety procedures.
• ability to work with minimal supervision.
• skills in dealing effectively and courteously with students, coworkers, supervisors, deputies and the public.

essential physical skills:

• ability to communicate verbally.
• acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
• acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
• ability to stand for long periods of time.
• ability to respond quickly if needed.
