We are seeking a skilled, motivated Irrigation Technician to join our agronomy team and help maintain the elite playing conditions that define the Southern Hills experience.
Position SummaryThe Irrigation Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of the golf course irrigation system to ensure optimal turf health, water efficiency, and superior course conditions. This role works closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents and plays a critical part in delivering championship‑level course presentation.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain the computerized irrigation system
- Diagnose and repair irrigation issues including valves, heads, wiring, and pipe systems
- Adjust watering schedules based on weather, turf needs, and course conditions
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Assist with pump station operation and troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and system performance
- Support daily golf course maintenance activities as needed
- Ensure water conservation and environmental stewardship practices are followed
High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
Experience RequirementsPreferred:
- 1–3 years of golf course irrigation or related experience
- Knowledge of irrigation control systems (Toro, Rain Bird, or similar)
- Understanding of turfgrass irrigation principles
- Ability to read irrigation maps and schematics
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Required:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
