Loader Operator

The Loader Operator safely operates heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport bulk materials such as ash, dirt, rock, and sand within an industrial plant environment, while maintaining stockpiles and strictly following safety and environmental procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate loader and other heavy equipment to safely load, unload, and transport materials including ash, dirt, rock, sand, and similar bulk products.
  • Build, shape, and maintain stockpiles to ensure safe, organized, and efficient material storage.
  • Move materials to designated areas according to site plans, instructions, and production needs.
  • Conduct thorough daily equipment inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and housekeeping to keep machines clean and in good working order.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, site rules, and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members to coordinate equipment movements and material placement.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent incidents and protect personnel, equipment, and property.
  • Climb into and out of equipment safely and use proper fall protection and safety practices as required.
  • Work extended shifts in an industrial plant environment, including exposure to heat and outdoor conditions.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience operating loaders and other heavy equipment in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Hands-on experience with material loading, unloading, and transporting using heavy equipment.
  • Ability to build and maintain material stockpiles safely and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of construction or industrial site safety practices.
  • Ability to conduct daily equipment inspections and recognize mechanical or safety issues.
  • Capability to work safely in an industrial plant environment, including in hot conditions.
  • Physical ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment and sit for long periods during 12-hour shifts.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial plant environment with exposure to heat and outdoor conditions. You will operate heavy equipment for extended periods, spending much of the shift seated in the cab while frequently climbing in and out of machines. The schedule follows a rotating pattern: working from Wednesday to Tuesday (seven consecutive days), followed by seven days off, and then four working days the next week.

Shifts are 12 hours in length, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and consistent use of appropriate work attire suitable for industrial and high-heat conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
