Fully Remote - will cover all six hospital locations in the THMA region.
Purpose:
The Grants Specialist supports the Regional Director, Grants & Community Investments by executing the day-to-day operational, research, writing, coordination, and functions of the regional grants portfolio. While the Director leads grants strategy, funder cultivation, and approval of all submissions, the Grants Specialist assists the director in managing the full grants lifecycle at the operational level—ensuring high-quality proposals, accurate documentation, strong compliance, and timely reporting across all THMA/Maryland programs and partners.
The role partners closely with local and regional finance teams, program directors, community partners, and leadership to ensure accurate documentation, strong compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and effective stewardship of grant resources that strengthen community health and well-being and advance the strategic plan of the THMA & Maryland Region.
As a Grants Specialist, you will:
- Develop/manage an online colleague grant request system showing
1) project owner,
2) request summary,
3) total project cost,
4) grant amount needed,
5) preliminary budget,
6) leader approvals - Summarize funder requirements: deadlines, eligibility, document requirements, grant dollar range, payment structure (cash advance/reimbursement/drawdown), match, use of funds restrictions, reporting, so internal program/project owners can quickly understand opportunities
- Develop/manage a grant tracking system showing
1) grant opportunities,
2) incoming requests,
3) project priorities,
4) acceptance routing,
6) in development,
7) submitted (pending). - Develops/manage a grants financial summary showing
1) award amounts/dates,
2) length of grant cycle,
3) payments/payment schedules,
4) colleague draw downs,
5) invoices/proofs of payment,
6) fund balances - Develop/manage file library of all grant-related documents
- Conduct co-research to identify grant opportunities
- Develop support relationships with external and internal partners in the grants process including grantors and program/project owners
- Coordinate/assemble all non-narrative components of grant submissions
- Coordinate submissions of amendments and changes
1) budget revisions,
2) scope adjustments,
3) timeline extensions - Flag compliance risks
- Coordinate timely collection of report requirements for submission and drafts reports
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, public health, nonprofit management, business, healthcare administration, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Work Experience:
3–5 years of grant development and management experience, including demonstrated success securing and managing awards. - Strong writing, editing, analytical, and project management skills.
- Experience preparing grant budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of federal and state grant processes; familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across local and regional functions.
