Assistant Dean Of Business, Computing & Social Science
Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a talented Assistant Dean of Business, Computing & Social Science to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. The Assistant Dean, BCSS reports to the Academic Division Dean, assists the Dean in the academic, administrative, personnel, and fiscal operations of the Division, and acts in the Dean's place during an absence. The Assistant Dean, BCSS is responsible for the resolution of student concerns and the recruitment, hiring, course staffing, supervision, staff development, and evaluation of the division's part-time faculty.
This position will work closely with academic coordinators providing general guidance and perspective with curriculum development and classroom administration. The Assistant Dean must be committed to academic excellence, diversity, and a spirit of collaboration. This is a full-time, in-person position with constant interaction with both FT/PT faculty, administrators, and staff. The job position also requires participation and engagement with external/internal stakeholders-e.g., Open House Events, Advisory Boards, and CAS committees.

Functions
Division Leadership
Assist with development and implementation of the Division's academic plan.Monitor the assessment and review all courses and programs to assure their integrity, currency, and relevance to student achievement.Collaborate with faculty in creating new courses and programs as needed.Advise the Dean in regard to the division's academic assessment activities.Develop a course schedule that is based on students' needs.Prepare reports and serve on committees as needed.Monitor full-time and part-time faculty load, track enrollment, and make class cancellation recommendations prior to the start of each semester.Advocate for faculty and staff.Mentor and facilitate professional development of faculty, particularly of part-time faculty.Assure that part-time faculty are cognizant of and engaged in achieving the goals of the division.Work collaboratively with the Vice President, Student Affairs and Strategic Initiatives and the Director of Student Conduct in dealing with student behavioral concerns.Work with the Vice President of Branch Campus Operations to ensure consistency of academic and student services for the Division at all College campuses.Serve on College Advisory System committees and other pertinent College-wide committees.Other duties assigned.Part-Time Faculty Leadership
Maintain a current file of qualified potential part-time faculty, advertise vacancies, evaluate written credentials of applicants, and identify suitable candidates to interview, according to established practices and policies.Interview and hire new candidates for part-time positions, assuring to maintain a pool of vetted, qualified faculty that exceeds current staffing needs according to established practices and policies.Assign part-time faculty to teaching assignments based upon staffing needs, according to established practices and policies.Act as the first-line supervisor of the part-time faculty, in terms of their attendance, classroom teaching, student complaints, and the performance of their other duties.Plan and provide staff development programs for part-time faculty, particularly during regularly scheduled in-service days.Supervise the classroom performance evaluation process of part-time faculty, in collaboration with faculty coordinators according to established practices and policies.Address student needs and concerns and facilitate the collaborative resolution of conflicts.Management Functions
