Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with equipment and vehicle safety inspections, including documenting findings, tracking corrective actions, and escalating high-risk issues to the Safety Manager.
• Support telematics/IVMS review routines by pulling reports, identifying trends, and preparing coaching materials for leaders and drivers.
• Coordinate or assist with IVMS-based coaching processes, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-up verification to support behavior improvement and risk reduction.
• Support consistent implementation of UVL safety policies, standards, and procedures across assigned locations and work activities, including reinforcement of stop-work expectations.
• Maintain and update safety tracking tools and documentation (inspections, coaching records, corrective action logs, training records) to ensure audit-ready files and visibility to leaders.
• Assist with incident and near-miss documentation by collecting initial information, organizing evidence, and ensuring timely routing to the Safety Manager and Compliance.
• Track and support closure of corrective actions from incidents, audits, inspections, observations, UVL standard non-conformances, and customer/regulatory findings; escalate overdue actions.
• Support safety communications and learning, including distributing safety alerts, toolbox talks, and reminders developed by the Safety Management team.
• Assist with basic data reporting (leading/lagging indicators) and preparation of monthly/weekly safety updates for leadership review.
• Provide general coordination and administrative support to the Safety Management team, including scheduling, meeting notes, and follow-up on action items.
• Escalates imminent danger or uncontrolled high-risk conditions immediately to Operations leadership and the Safety Manager.
• May recommend coaching, retraining, or procedural updates when performance gaps are observed, in coordination with the Safety Manager.
• Supports compliance assurance by identifying and communicating gaps related to UVL standards and applicable DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, OSHA, and state/local requirements.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required;
  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Technology, Occupational Health, or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in safety, operations, transportation, or administrative coordination.
• Ability to learn and apply UVL safety policies, standards, and procedures and UVL standards and applicable DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, OSHA, and state/local requirements.
• Comfort with technology and data tools, including Excel and IVMS/telematics platforms; ability to produce clear summaries for leaders.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective communication skills; able to interact professionally with drivers, frontline leaders, and managers.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as required.
• Requires up to 50% travel, as business needs require.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand and walk frequently throughout terminals, warehouses, yards, maintenance facilities, and office locations.
• Operate a motor vehicle and travel to various company locations as needed.
• Climb stairs, ladders, trailer steps, truck steps, and elevated platforms while conducting inspections.
• Perform visual inspections requiring close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
