Summary of Position

The Waste Pro Sales Representative provides short‑ and long‑term growth of WP revenues through targeted prospecting, business development, communication, relationship building, and consultative selling within a defined territory. Through partnerships with customers, commercial clients, franchisers, business leaders, governmental officials, and key strategic partners, new contracts are acquired or existing contracts extended for the collection, processing, transportation and disposal of solid waste and recyclables.

The Sales Representative uses consultative/strategic selling skills to understand economic and buying influences, works with their Sales Manager and other internal business partners to meet client expectations and close deals, and supports prospecting efforts for potential clients in a defined area, including municipal opportunities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develop maximum potential sales volume and profitability within the defined territory.
  • Partner with Regional and Corporate Sales Managers in developing short‑ and long‑term strategic market and sales planning.
  • Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for new sales.
  • Match Waste Pro services and sales support to meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Develop a strong customer base within the regional area by calling on prospective customers by phone or in person.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through direct communication and solicitation of feedback.
  • Drive acquisition, retention and renewal of contracts by maintaining critical relationships with customers and decision‑makers.
  • Know the competition and use industry/company knowledge to prepare winning proposals.
  • Partner with corporate sales, marketing, and regional management to develop bid and RFP packages and ensure proposals meet all specification requirements, pricing and professional quality.
  • Interface with WP executives, managers, associates and customers to target opportunities and pursue leads aggressively.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Manager(s) in closing contracts through aggressive negotiation, competitive pricing and adherence to sales strategy.
  • Initiate billing and contract audits to ensure correct pricing and invoicing.
  • Resolve complaints and issues to support the customer and comply with regulations.
  • Participate in community events to promote WP’s distinction.
  • Keep management apprised of sales activities that may impact the Division, Region or Company.
  • Use available technology to monitor, track and report sales activity and forecast revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Sales, Marketing and Regional Specialists on press coverage and collateral needs.
  • Research and stay current on competitor services and pricing.
  • Use a standard format or sales automation tool to maintain status of sales activities.

    • Attend and participate in corporation‑sponsored training courses as assigned.
    • Keep up to date on current technology used by Waste Pro.
    • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

    Reporting Relationships

    No CDL required.

    Qualifications
    • AS/BA/BS degree in business, marketing, or equivalent experience; related work experience may substitute for educational requirements.
    • 1–2 years of sales/marketing/business development experience within the Waste Services Industry, with emphasis on the Commercial Sales Sector.
    • 1+ years of progressive sales experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply consultative and solutions‑based selling skills.
    • Experience in negotiation, bid responses, contract management, forecasting and reporting.
    • Experience in sales generation, customer interaction, presentation, account management, pricing and closure.
