Position Objective

The Power & HVAC Technician Trainee position is an entry level role designed for highly motivated, hard‑working individuals who wish to grow their career  Technician Trainee will perform light mechanical and preventive maintenance work under close supervision and will participate in a training program that expands their skill set across generators, air compressors, chillers, A/C units, and dehumidifiers. Upon successful completion, the candidate will advance to the Power & HVAC Technician 1 role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all equipment; document equipment status before and after rental, including work order details, and communicate issues to the foreman and supporting mechanics.
  • Handle yard operations: load and unload equipment, conduct check‑in inspections, and fuel equipment as needed.
  • Adjust equipment settings and perform basic repairs under the direction of the Service Manager and Mentor.
  • Assist with the setup and delivery of equipment systems to shop operations and customer job sites.
  • Support more experienced technicians with the delivery and installation of rented power, HVAC/DH, compressed air, and other equipment types.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials safely in accordance with company policy.
  • Adhere to all safety standards prescribed by Sunbelt management.
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment.
  • Attend all training sessions and manufacturing training as directed.
  • Meet all company, governmental, and equipment‑related safety requirements.
  • Participate in all Profit Center Meetings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and properly handle company tools.
  • Maintain a professional appearance while wearing company uniforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
  • Willingness to learn and ability to comprehend technical equipment repairs and diagnostics.
  • 0 to 1 year of experience with similar equipment (strongly preferred).
  • Ability to effectively and safely use mechanic’s tools and equipment.
  • Personal and professional integrity.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills — entering work orders, diagnosing issues, using the Wynne system.
  • Clear understanding of equipment safety requirements.
  • Flexibility regarding work assignments.
  • Physical capability to work on a job site or in a shop for extensive periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching.

This entry‑level technician program may last up to 18 months. The company will provide the necessary toolkit and box during training; upon completion and when promoted to the Power & HVAC Technician 1 position, the tools and toolbox become the property of the employee.

Physical Demands

The role requires bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs or more. Additional duties may involve driving for long periods, loading and unloading heavy equipment, and working in extreme weather conditions (rain, wind, high temperatures) or during night and weekend shifts. All tasks must comply with Sunbelt’s safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range

$17.75 – $21.43 per hour (starting rate of pay may vary based on position, location, education, training, and experience).
