Under the direction of the School Age Education Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Group Leader will be responsible to assist in the operation of all School Age Education programming. The Group Leader serves as an instructor and role model to program participants, participates in the planning and implementation of high quality programs by taking responsibility for each child’s safety and well-being, engaging families and school staff, while complying with licensing rules and procedures.

- Performallotherdutiesasassignedby School Age Education Directoror Leadership Staff
- Preferred candidate will have completed Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Skills and Strategiesorcourseworkinthefieldof Educationorsimilarfieldorwillingtocompletecoursework provided in a timely manner to become qualified to be an assistant teacher.
- Mustbeatleast
18yearsofage andpossessahighschool diplomaor equivalent. - Required Trainings:
Providedbythe YMCA- CPR-Pro,AED,andFirst Aid Certificationisrequired (ifnotpresent,mustbeobtained within 3 months).
- Abusive Head Trauma (Formerly Shaken Baby Syndrome ) is required(mustbe obtained prior to working in the classroom).
- Mustcompletefingerprintingrequirementpriortoworkingfirstshiftwith children
- Previousexperienceworkingwithchildren is preferred
- Mustbedependable,responsible,andhaveareliableformof transportation
- Mustbeavailablethroughdurationofschoolyearandbeavailablefor School Out Days (holiday/in service)
- Mustexhibitjoyandsatisfaction,andhaveapassionforworkingwith children
- Consistentlydemonstrateasetofstrongprofessionalskillsincludinginterpersonalcommunication, time management, punctuality, initiative, and flexibility
- Theincumbentwillexhibitthecorevaluesofcaring,honesty,respectandresponsibilityinallaspects of their work within the YMCA
- Musthaveunderstanding,patience,creativity,cooperative spirit,commonsense,spiritualdepthand commitment to working with youth and their families
