Automation Commissioning & Service Engineer

If you are a high-level automation professional seeking an environment where your specialized technical intelligence directly impacts multi-million dollar machinery, this agile engineering and capital equipment OEM represents the ideal professional home. Backed by nearly a century of continuous industrial excellence, the company blends a high-trust, supportive culture of a boutique firm with the vast stability of a global market leader.

This is an incredible opportunity to take massive pride in your work as you lead complex, ground‑up automated systems from internal plant assembly and debug all the way to global customer site run‑off. The leadership team heavily prioritizes technical mentorship, employee recognition, and genuine career growth, complementing competitive compensation with strong educational assistance and a retirement matching program.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead internal commissioning, debug, and equipment readiness operations to ensure high‑complexity automated systems are delivered to technical specification.
  • Serve as the core technical interface across multidisciplinary engineering, project management, and floor leadership teams to rapidly isolate and resolve technical risks.
  • Validate advanced robotic platforms from scratch, conducting initial electrical/mechanical calibrations, I/O configurations, and communication network verifications.
  • Perform hands‑on diagnostic troubleshooting across complex PLC architectures, pneumatic systems, servo controls, safety devices, and integrated vision applications.
  • Provide elite field‑side support during customer installations, managing complex equipment run‑offs and delivering highly professional technical training to customer engineering teams.
What We Are Looking For
  • 5 to 8 years of proven experience with robotics and automation including integrating, debugging, and programming automated manufacturing systems.
  • 5+ years of PLC troubleshooting and basic programming experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities with a verified track record of identifying hardware, software, mechanical, and electrical failures within high‑precision machinery.
  • Comprehensive print fluency with the ability to read and interpret complex mechanical schematics, electrical layouts, and fluid power documentation.
  • Project tracking discipline with administrative capability to monitor test hours, manage open‑issue lists, and deliver clear technical progress reports to management.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering preferred; experience with offline simulation tools is a major plus.
  • The ability to travel 50‑80%, including domestic and international.
