Material Handler II - 2nd Shift

Full Time Manual Labor TAPCO - Brown Deer, WI, US

Requisition  | Salary Range: $20.00 to $23.00 hourly

Role Overview

This is not a Forklift Operator position. This position is 95% actively moving on your feet and 5% on a forklift.

Schedule Options

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 1:30 PM-10:00 PM

Pay

Pay is based on experience, and there is a shift differential in the base rate when working 2nd Shift.

Training & Support

We don’t require forklift certification. Our team will train you on stand-up forklifts, sit down forklifts, joey’s, and more.

Career Development

The Material Handler position encompasses multiple aspects of warehousing, and here at TAPCO we will train you in picking, packing, small pack processing, receiving, and freight.

Responsibilities
  • Operate pallet jack and other non-power equipment
  • Compare identifying information and count/measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
  • Use computer to lookup and verify data related to incoming and outgoing orders
  • Retrieve products from warehouse locations and assemble customer orders
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, or select preassembled containers and insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
  • Affix shipping label on packages or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment
  • Attach identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, follow established procedures to reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper and supervisor to rectify damages and shortages
  • Stock items into proper locations
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
  • Follow all safety rules and 5S / Lean Manufacturing procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Operate different types of forklifts including stand-up, sit-down and order picker
  • Utilize RF scanners to pick inventory and product movement
  • Receive packing slips and help stock both our warehouses
  • Maintain shipping, receiving and inventory records through proper documentation
  • Maintain organization and warehouse cleanliness
  • Responsible for all warehouse safety protocols including, but not limited to utilizing PPE and performing safety checks on all powered equipment
Qualifications
  • Ability to transition from working independently to working in a team environment
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience using basic computer skills preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in a related role or in a distribution center environment
  • 2-3 years forklift experience loading/unloading trucks
  • Experience using an Inventory Control System
