Summary
Rogers Behavioral Health (RBH) is a not‑for‑profit behavioral health system that has served patients in Wisconsin and 9 other states for over 100 years. RBH offers inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient services, with three hospitals located in Wisconsin and clinics spread across the United States. In this role, with the support of a collaborating physician, the provider acts as a team leader in a multi‑faced treatment team methodology.
PatientCare Responsibilities
- Attend patients at assigned sites or provide virtual coverage within licensure scope.
- Conduct medication management sessions with patients.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Perform history and physical examinations.
- Create and update patient treatment plans.
- Provide patient and family education.
- Participate in team and unit meetings.
- Create discharge plans.
- Participate in the established call schedule.
- Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours.
- Serve as attending provider for assigned units.
- Round on patients as required.
- Provide medication education to nursing staff.
- Participate in in‑service treatment team sessions as needed.
- Meet patient productivity standards.
- Ensure coding and documentation standards meet organizational expectations.
- Attend Medical Staff meetings and Executive Committee meetings.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all contracted payors.
- Review denials of service from all payors deemed medical in nature.
- Interface with referring parties, psychiatrists, and primary care AHPs to coordinate care and after‑care.
- Market employer appropriately, including off‑site meetings and marketing activities.
- Review potential admissions, pending cases, and declined admissions to ensure employer policy execution and EMTALA compliance.
- Serve as an advocate for the organization.
- Provide support, information, education, and services to patients and families.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and meetings.
- Identify new program development opportunities for patient care services.
- Engage in community education of behavioral health issues.
- Provide initial placement recommendations based on admitting criteria, clinical parameters, medical history, and documentation from screening.
- Review and evaluate completed admission screenings to determine appropriate program, level of care, and mode of delivery.
- Communicate professionally and accurately with stakeholders.
- Refer to and collaborate with other departments and agencies as needed.
- Report pertinent data to the attending provider and team members.
- Prioritize effectively in situations requiring immediate attention versus postponement.
- Immediately communicate difficult problems with referents.
- Maintain relationships with medical staff and other providers across RBH for ongoing case communication.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to resolve conflict, and use initiative and judgment to organize and plan activities. Requires excellent verbal, hearing, numerical, reading, and written communication skills. Physical demands include walking, sitting, and standing; moderate lifting of up to 20 pounds; reach, handle, grasp, and manual dexterity for operating office equipment. Job performance is verified through a physical exam by a licensed AHP.
TrainingRequirements
- Licensed in the state as a Nurse Practitioner Board‑eligible AHP.
- Board certification preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited college or university.
- Completion of required practical training in psychiatry.
- Two or more years of experience as a provider in another licensed hospital or clinic (preferred).
- Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization preferred.
- Experience with process improvement implementation preferred.
- Nurse Practitioner – Certification required.
