- This is a fully on-site role based in Brownsburg, Indiana. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
- Candidates must currently reside in the United States.

Job OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support automation systems for high-volume, mass-manufacturing production lines. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning full systems end-to-end, solving complex plant-floor challenges, and working in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment.
This position requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor, leading and supporting on-site commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities. Candidates must have direct experience commissioning equipment in live production environments.
You will be responsible for PLC architecture, programming, commissioning, and continuous improvement using Siemens PLC platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement automation and controls systems from concept through production.
- Create electrical drawings and assist in executing and overseeing wiring and installation.
- Program and commission Siemens PLCs for entire production lines.
- Define and improve PLC architecture, I/O structures, networks, and control strategies.
- Integrate stations, conveyors, sensors, material handling equipment, safety systems, and HMI/SCADA.
- Lead on-site commissioning, debugging, startup, and validation of equipment.
- Support live production and respond to downtime events.
- Improve uptime, throughput, quality, and system reliability.
- Assist maintenance teams with hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Design and implement SQL databases for process data collection and analysis.
- Utilize data analytics to identify performance trends and optimize systems.
- Integrate PLC systems with enterprise databases and MES platforms.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, ladder logic, and schematics.
- Support industrial IoT (IIoT) initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
- 5+ years of experience working in mass manufacturing.
- Strong experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal, S7 platforms).
- Experience in mass manufacturing or high-volume production.
- Proven ability to program full production lines.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and create electrical drawings.
- Hands on electrical experience wiring control panels, motors, sensors, etc.
