Department Manager Responsibilities
  • Heartof House Department Manager has primary responsibility for the HOH area: manage all food/product matters, staff planning, and development. Maintain a safe environment and improve profitability through revenue and labor management.
  • Bar Department Manager supervises BWW operations, responsible for adult beverage matters, inventory, compliance, and staff development.
  • Hospitality Manager supervises dining‑room service, manages staff development, and maintains a safe environment.
  • Directly responsible for staffing, succession planning, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, and ongoing development of department team members to meet staffing guidelines.
  • Responsible for WCT training, maintaining certification, and providing development plans.
  • Creates weekly department schedules within budgeted labor guidelines.
  • Creates, develops, implements incentive programs and contests for the department, and motivates team participation.
  • Provides regular performance feedback, including timely appraisals and development.
  • Administers semi‑annual merit increase process and assists GM on coaching other managers.
  • Oversees MIT training and ensures correct scheduling of WCTs.
  • Provides coaching and follow‑up to direct reports to ensure execution of service standards and guest experience.
  • Communicates effectively through departmental meetings.
  • Ensures all department team members have current state‑required training and permits.
  • Establishes techniques to attract new guests and manages the Guest Comment program.
  • Utilizes GEM program for feedback and guest satisfaction.
  • Facilitates and ensures adherence to new food and bar product rollouts and vendor accountability.
  • Maintains menu specs, wall charts, systems, and ensures adherence.
  • Trains managers and team members on quality, service, cleanliness, and inventory levels.
  • Analyzes performance tools (GEM, QSCs, audits, P&L), troubleshoots issues, and implements action plans.
  • Conducts administrative functions such as invoice entry, inventory, and end‑of‑day procedures.
  • Monitors equipment, reports repair needs, and follows up to ensure timely repairs.
  • Operates the department consistently with health and safety practices.
  • Manages overall food cost, labor results, inventory levels, and P&L comprehension.
  • Creates crowdsourced incentives and contests for bar sales.
  • Assists GM with Local Restaurant Marketing program and sales incentive contests.
  • Completes all other assigned duties or tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2years of restaurant or hospitality management experience.
  • Experience managing a restaurant with a full bar is preferred.
  • Strong passion, commitment, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Team‑focused with a track record of developing high‑performing team members.
  • Open availability including late nights and weekends.
  • Highly motivated, self‑directed, results‑driven with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical competencies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and enforce company policies and compliance.
  • High school education or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
  • Satisfactory background check and ability to lift 50pounds regularly.
  • Completion of Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program.
