Level I Machinist

Description

The Level I Machinist is essential in complex manufacturing operations for aerospace, defense, motorsports, and commercial machined components and assemblies. This position will have daily interaction with the manufacturing team and operation of CNC Mills and Lathes, power and hand tools, precision tools, and any other required tools/equipment. This position requires expertise in Solidworks, Mastercam, OKUMA controllers, and reading detailed prints/drawings.

In addition, this role will also require comprehensive knowledge and experience in fixturing and equipment setup. The Level I Machinist must be a strong communicator, independent worker, team player, and have the drive to learn and adapt.

• Operate DSM in an ISO 9001 and AS 9100 environment.
• Build or manufacture to drawing all items to established production quality and quantity as scheduled.
• Operate conventional and/or CNC equipment, and perform first part inspection to verify part is to specifications with regular and proficient use of precision measuring equipment.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance and good housekeeping to ensure good quality and continuation of safe operation. Maintaining tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in good working order with a clean work area, machines, tools and equipment.
• Confer with supervisors, engineering, production personnel or other team members to resolve manufacturing problems. Report shortages of parts, tools, and materials in a timely manner.
• Operate power equipment and material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.)
• Use hand tools to perform tasks effectively.
• Develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be manufactured.
• Ability to work with metric and inch system.
• Responsible for submitting daily time accounting and payroll information or other paperwork requested.
• Work efficiently with the supervisor.

• Has full knowledge and proficient in conventional and CNC equipment and/or proficient in manufacturing three (3) dimensional holding and punch tooling, mold modification or repair, and other special tooling for blow molding process.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Frequently walking and occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred (100) pounds.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Also, to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• 1 plus yrs of Master Cam or equivalent experience
• 1 plus yrs of Solid modeling experience
• Okuma CNC equipment knowledge is a plus

Minimum requirements:

High School or GED and some experience job related and/or equivalent to fulfill the requirements of Level I.
