We are seeking a hands-on Tooling Engineer to support CNC machining, tooling, fixturing, work holding, process improvement, and production support in a precision manufacturing environment.
This role is ideal for someone who understands CNC machining from the floor up and knows how to choose the right tools, fixtures, holders, inserts, speeds, feeds, and machining approach to get parts running correctly. The team will work closely with machinists, operators, vendors, engineering, maintenance, and leadership to solve problems and improve production. This is not a desk-only role; you will be directly involved with tooling decisions, fixture needs, CNC programs, machine setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Identify tooling, inserts, holders, and work holding needed for CNC production
- Source and order tooling and fixtures through vendor relationships
- Work with tooling and fixture vendors to support new and existing parts
- Help design, modify, or improve fixtures and work holding for CNC mills and lathes
- Support Mazak and Haas CNC machines on the production floor
- Review prints, 3D models, and part requirements to determine the best machining approach
- Assist with CNC program edits, process improvements, and setup support
- Use Fusion 360 or related CAM software to support machining and tooling needs
- Help launch a newly installed CNC machine and transition production parts onto the equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with tolerances, chatter, tool wear, surface finish, cycle time, and repeatability
- Support setup, prove-out, first-piece runs, and production launches
- Improve existing machining processes to reduce downtime, scrap, and wasted motion
- Create or update setup sheets, work instructions, process documents, and tooling standards
- Work closely with machinists, operators, maintenance, engineering, and production leadership
- Strong hands-on CNC machining, tooling, or manufacturing engineering experience
- Experience with Mazak and Haas CNC machines
- Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and 3D models
- Strong tooling, fixturing, and work holding knowledge
- Ability to identify, source, order, and implement tooling and fixtures
- Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes
- CNC programming or program editing experience
- Fusion 360 experience preferred
- Mastercam, CAMWorks, or Solid Works CAM experience may also be considered
- Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, inserts, holders, and machining strategies
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues directly on the shop floor
- Comfortable working with vendors, machinists, operators, maintenance, and leadership
- Manual machining experience is a plus
This role is a strong fit for someone who has worked as a Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Machine Engineer, CNC Programmer, Senior CNC Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Process Engineer, or Machine Shop Lead. The right person will be able to assess a part, determine the tooling and fixtures needed, support the CNC program, help with setup, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the process runs efficiently.
What’sIn It for You?
- Full-time, direct-hire opportunity
- Competitive salary range of $95,000 - $110,000 based on experience
- Stable onsite schedule with a standard 40-hour work week
- Hands-on role with direct impact on production, quality, and efficiency
- Opportunity to take ownership of tooling, fixturing, CNC support, and process improvements
- Opportunity to support the launch of a newly installed CNC machine
