Checkered Past Machine is an AS9100/ISO-certified precision manufacturing shop in Brownsburg, Indiana, supporting demanding aerospace, defense, motorsports, automotive, medical-device and other industrial work. This role is built for an experienced machinist who wants ownership of the complete process—from reviewing a print and planning the approach through programming, setup, prove-out, inspection and production.
You’ll work in a collaborative, small-team environment where practical ideas can directly improve how parts are made. Whatyou'll be doing
- Program, set up and operate Okuma, Smart and Haas mill-turn machines, plus Smart and Haas mills
- Create, edit and optimize CAM toolpaths
- Interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings
- Select tooling, speeds and feeds for quality and efficiency
- Design and build fixtures and work holding solutions
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling and programming challenges
- Perform first-piece, in-process and final inspections
- Improve processes and reduce cycle times
- Machines: Okuma, Smart and Haas mill-turn machines;
Smart and Haas mills - CAM: Fusion 360, Mastercam, Solid Works CAM or similar
- Controls: Haas, Mazak, SMART or Fanuc experience is preferred
- AS9100/ISO-certified quality system

Required:
- 8+ years of CNC machining experience with live-tool turning centers and mills
- Proven CAM programming experience
- Strong blueprint-reading skills and the ability to hold tight tolerances
- Ability to independently take a job from setup through production
- Dependable, detail-oriented approach to quality and problem-solving
Preferred:
- Multi-axis machining experience, including 4th- or 5th-axis work
- GD&T application and interpretation
- Advanced fixture and work holding design
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
- Trade-school, apprenticeship or equivalent training
