Grocery Shift Lead

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers, including an exceptional checkout experience.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach other team members to meet customer service and sales goals, ensuring area maintenance to Meijer standards and completion of required trainings.
• Support training new team members and cross‑train high‑potential talent, providing peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards to positively impact productivity.
• Collaborate with leadership on department schedule writing to focus on team‑member engagement, improve customer service, store sales, and profitability.
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team in compliance with food safety standards and regulations, working safely in alignment with 200% accountability.
• Lead team members to ensure ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display are completed where applicable.
• Create an environment that supports Meijer culture, valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Operate a register and manage cash handling when needed.
• Operate powered equipment, where applicable.
• Participate in period‑end inventories to help achieve goals.
• May be required to act in lead capacity in other departments throughout the store.
