Job Summary

The Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing material‑handling assets that support daily warehouse operations. This includes, but is not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, dock equipment and safety systems. The technician ensures safe, efficient equipment performance while supporting operational needs across multiple facilities. Travel between sites is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide scheduled and emergency maintenance for MHE across multiple assigned facilities.
  • Prioritize service calls across sites based on operational urgency and equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with the local site Facilities Coordinator to schedule repairs with minimal disruption.
  • Travel to sites for emergency repairs, preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) for forklifts, pallet jacks, tuggers, conveyors and dock systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  • Service conveyor belts, motors, sensors, rollers, control panels and safety mechanisms.
  • Support facility teams with troubleshooting automation and material flow systems.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Use manufacturer manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to determine root causes of failures.
  • Provide technical guidance to site leadership and operators about equipment usage and common issues.
  • Make recommendations to enhance equipment longevity and reliability.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Log all maintenance activities, including travel time and parts usage.
  • Maintain accurate service records for audits and compliance across multiple sites.
  • Ensure all work meets OSHA, ANSI and internal safety standards.
  • Assist in monitoring parts inventory at each location and support reordering processes.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow strict LOTO and safety procedures at every site.
  • Proactively identify equipment hazards across facilities and elevate when needed.
  • Support cross‑site facility audits, safety inspections and reliability initiatives.
  • Recommend improvements to standardize MHE programs company‑wide.
Qualifications and Job Specifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2‑5+ years of hands‑on experience repairing MHE or industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between sites.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities across multiple locations.
Technical Expertise
  • Technical certificate in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment technician, or related field.
  • Experience working in multi‑facility or regional maintenance roles.

Physical, Mental and Visual Demands
  • Ability to safely work in warehouse and industrial environments, including exposure to noise, vibration, dust, moving equipment and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds, with heavier loads moved using assistance or mechanical devices.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment, read schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and digital displays and distinguish colors, symbols and warning indicators.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and maintain situational awareness around moving machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, prioritize tasks and work independently across multiple sites.
