Job Title: Engineering Technician

Location: Brownsburg-Whitestown, IN (ON-SITE) NO SPONSORSHIP

Reports to: Sr. Controls Engineer

Job Summary:

Engineering Technician with expertise in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial data analytics
. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience working with Siemens PLCs and SQL databases to optimize and automate industrial processes. This role will focus on system integration, real‑time data collection, and analytics‑driven process improvements in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Key

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot industrial automation systems using Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500, TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC and HMI/SCADA systems for improved efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair SQL databases to collect, store, and analyze process data.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify performance trends, troubleshoot issues, and improve system operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair while collaborating with the Controls Engineer networking and communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet) for seamless data exchange.
  • Conduct system diagnostics and root cause analysis to resolve automation and process control issues.
  • Assist with the updates of technical documentation, ladder logic diagrams, and system schematics
    .
  • Assist with industrial IoT (IIoT) implementations for smarter manufacturing solutions.

Assist with compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and cybersecurity best practices
.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and priorities.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide project updates to leadership.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

Manufacturing & Plant Support

  • Work closely with operations teams to understand equipment and process needs.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions for manufacturing challenges.
  • Support installation and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment layout issues.
  • Improve workflow, material flow, and plant utilization.

Required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality assurance principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Capability to support equipment installation and commissioning utilizing internal and external resources
  • Work with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation and control systems.
  • Troubleshooting and improvement of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid system issues in production applications.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
