Job DescriptionTITLE: Gifted Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
SUPERVISES: N/A
TERM: 10 months.
JOB GOAL: Provide specialized, differentiated instruction and services to students identified as Intellectually Gifted (IG). Ensure that gifted learners receive appropriately challenging academic experiences, enrichment, acceleration, and social‑emotional support in accordance with state guidelines and the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Hold appropriate state teaching license
- Gifted endorsement
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Effective decision‑making and strong verbal/written communication skills
- Knowledge of characteristics and needs of gifted learners
- Provide a differentiated instructional program designed for gifted learners, incorporating enrichment, acceleration, and project‑based
- Develop and implement instruction aligned to state standards and each student’s IG IEP
- Integrate higher‑order thinking, creativity, inquiry, and problem‑solving
- Use available technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and support advanced
- Analyze student data and adjust lessons to meet individual strengths and
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, including IEP documentation, progress monitoring, service logs, and required
- Participate in eligibility, reevaluation, and IEP team meetings in accordance with state
- Assist with the identification and screening process for gifted services following district and state guidelines
- Create a secure, positive classroom environment that encourages risk‑taking, inquiry, and creative
- Teach and support social‑emotional needs specific to gifted
- Model and reinforce positive, socially acceptable behavior using proactive strategies and positive reinforcement
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support differentiation within the regular
- Serve as a resource to staff on instructional strategies for advanced
- Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding progress and
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to gifted education and instructional best practices
- Contribute to district initiatives for gifted programming and continuous
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and
- Instruction may be delivered through pull‑out, push‑in, or consultative service
- Collaboration across multiple classrooms or buildings if
- Occasional evening meetings for family communication or school
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
