Responsible for inspecting, cutting, trimming, and packing pipe fittings produced by injection molding machines.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The Molder Operator will receive direction from the Injection Molding Manager or Acting Supervisor when the Production Supervisor is absent.
- Knowledge and recognition of plastic fittings by name, shape, and dimension.
- Knowledge of daily performance goals and working to achieve 100% of targeted output.
- Completion of production line paperwork accurately and in real time.
- Assurance of quality of work through proper labeling and verification for all types of molded fittings and their associated packaging.
- Set-up and verification of weight scales.
- Detection, segregation, and isolation of non-conforming quality defects and notifying relevant personnel.
- Identification of various quality defects based on appearance, fit, form, and function.
- Minimizing downtime by escalating machine-related problems to Mold Technician.
- Assisting with changeover process and ensuring proper line clearance and start-up.
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness of assigned work area (5S).
- Performing daily 5S audit for assigned work area.
- Training new injection molding personnel (full-time and temporary) on:
- Setting up work stations at start of shift
- Identifying labels with parts from the molding machines
- Identifying various quality defects
- Proper cutting techniques for gate lengths
- Maintaining a safe and orderly workspace (5S)
- Keeping correct counts as cartons/cases are filled
- Performing all functions with minimum supervision.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervision or management.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous work in a manufacturing environment preferred (not required). Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions. Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required.
Reasoning ability:
Must be able to take complex and diverse information or situations with several probable correct paths and compile information to solve problems.
Stand for extended periods, cut and trim parts for long periods, lift up to 35 pounds (up to 50 pounds in some stations). Work includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, oil/grease, and traveling powered industrial vehicles.
