VALID BASIC LIFE SUPPORT CERT; TX DRIVERS LICENSE
REQUIRED:
* High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English. Medical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as an instructor/trainer is required; and must possesses a valid and current American Heart Association Instructor course completion card in Basic Life Support.
* A valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
SUMMARY:
A Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation instructor is an individual who provides Basic Cardiac Life Support training in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the American Heart Association and performs certain administrative responsibilities in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Texas Affiliate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Ensure that proper resources are available to conduct CPR and First Aid training for staff and students in manner consistent with good educational practices. Secures/maintains access to all CPR equipment (requisite manikins for the type of course conducted). Offers a minimum of two CPR Provider courses (A, B, C, or
D) annually to employees and students, including district coaches, nurses, special ed employees, parental involvement employees, HOSA classes students and others by request . Offers additional CPR and First Aid courses as able, based on Brownsville Independent School District's need.
Possesses valid and current American Heart Association Instructor Course completion card in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Submits Annual Report of CPR training to the Texas Affiliate CPR Advisory Committee by established deadline date for previous twelve-month period. Maintains records of course conducted for a minimum of one year beyond the period of tenure.
Issues approved AHA Texas Affiliate course completion card to persons who satisfactorily complete all appropriate course requirements. Maintains strict security on course completion cards and test materials.
Obtains course materials for the AHA Texas Affiliate whenever possible. Assists with processing immunization records and materials required for student registration as able. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all district employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in services and meetings, as requested/required.
Performs other duties as requested by the Supervisor/Director.
