Bechtel is partnering with Next Decade on the Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas, a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities Work Planning & Packaging- Prepare construction drawings and sketches.
- Facilitate planning of construction methods and procedures.
- Initiate requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Implement and adhere to Zero Accidents philosophy and safety requirements for all craft and equipment.
- Demonstrate continuous learning and pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Develop firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Review and approve inspection test plans.
- Coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
- Familiarity with Bechtel’s Business Ethics handbook and policies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
- Knowledge of the use of subcontracts and the contractor/subcontractor responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including night shift or split shift.
- Work requires physical ability to conduct field inspections in high heat and high humidity, climb ladders and scaffolding, work on elevated or uneven surfaces, and operate in confined spaces. Some lifting may be required.
- Must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment as required.
