The incumbent will lead a high‑performing professional team. Under the direction of the Deputy Regional Director, the position is responsible for complex park/historic site management work, the preservation, protection, administration, operation and maintenance of Resaca de la Palma State Park. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultural and natural resource stewardship
- Financial management including budget planning, preparation and monitoring
- Revenue management
- Human resources management (recruitment and retention)
- Public safety programs
- Maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds and equipment
- Customer service, public relations, marketing and promotion
- Interpretation and education, coordinating special events
- Community outreach, volunteer development, and coordination of partnerships
- Identification, development and administration of program budgets
- Responsible for other assigned projects required by the Region and Austin headquarters
- Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgment
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Complies with all agency rules, regulations and procedures
Salary range is limited to commissioned officers in the park management track prior to 9/1/2020. State Park Law Enforcement career ladder eligibility requirements must be met to advance from the base rate‑of‑pay.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university - Experience:
Three years of experience in one of the following areas: natural/cultural resource management; interpretation or education; general maintenance; public safety; or promotion, public relations or marketing - Two years of experience as a supervisor or team leader (experience may be concurrent)
- Licensure:
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license (retention contingent upon maintaining the license)
- Current TPWD employees hired prior to January 1, 1998, without a break in service, and with at least sixty semester hours earned may substitute two years of TPWD experience in park management, supervision or operations for the required degree
- Experience as a supervisor or team leader in park operations and management
- Army 11A – Park/Historic Site Superintendent I–VI
- Naval 641X – Park/Historic Site Superintendent I–V
- Coast Guard — No Military Crosswalk. Qualified veterans encouraged to apply

- Air Force 10C0, 30C0 – Park/Historic Site Superintendent I–V
