Manufacturing Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Build Engineer for a leading FANG equivalent company. This role serves as the critical link between engineering design and full-scale manufacturing, responsible for turning cutting‑edge rocket hardware designs into highly efficient, production‑ready processes. The ideal candidate will develop and optimize assembly workflows, implement advanced tooling and automation, and drive improvements in yield, quality, and cycle time.

This engineer will spend significant time on the factory floor collaborating with technicians and engineers, solving real‑time production challenges, and scaling manufacturing systems for high‑rate output. The right individual is highly hands‑on, data‑driven, and passionate about building world‑class manufacturing systems capable of producing complex aerospace hardware at unprecedented speed and quality.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or related field
• 1+ years of manufacturing/process engineering experience (internships/projects qualify)
• Strong design for manufacturing (DFM) and process development experience
• Hands‑on experience with:
• Assembly processes
• Manufacturing workflows
• Understanding of weld processes and fabrication techniques
• Experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and defect reduction
• Ability to develop work instructions, assembly sequences, and inspection plans
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration with engineering and production teams
• Experience improving cycle times, yield, and throughput
• Data‑driven mindset; ability to analyze manufacturing performance (SQL or similar)

• Experience with:
• Weld process development, weld inspection, and robotic welding
• Non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods
• Automation of manufacturing processes
• Background in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, defense, or fabrication environments
• Experience supporting:
• Avionics (electronics, sensors, harnessing)
• Proficiency with SQL or data systems to track yield, scrap rates, and production trends
• Experience in high‑rate or mixed‑product manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
• Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑growth, or startup environments

• Act as the bridge between design engineering and manufacturing
• Develop manufacturing processes from scratch:
• Assembly sequences
• Weld sequences
• Inspection points
• Work instructions
• Design and implement tooling solutions

• Implement poka‑yoke (mistake‑proofing) systems to eliminate human error
• Automate processes to improve repeatability and increase production rate
• Analyze production data (SQL) to track:
• Yield
• Scrap rates
• Throughput
• Downtime
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize manufacturing workflows
• Lead root cause analysis to eliminate defects and improve yield
• Partner with design engineers to influence hardware designs for manufacturability
• Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for transition from development to full‑rate production
• Support fabrication and build activities directly on the factory floor
• Continuously drive cycle time reduction and efficiency improvements
