A partner of the Optum Care network, Well Med Medical Group, is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our Central Brownsville clinic in Brownsville, TX. As a member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone.

Position Highlights
  • Quality vs. quantity – typically see 15 to 16 patients per day
  • Instead of RVU or volume metrics, our providers are measured and rewarded on quality of care (earn bonus up to $15,000 per year, paid semi‑annually)
  • Start with 23 days PTO in the first year, plus 5 days for CME, plus 8 national holidays and 1 floating holiday
  • Strong clinical support team that includes RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT
  • Collaborate with our primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and network of employed/contracted sub‑specialists

Qualifications – External
  • Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR licensed physician assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
  • Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare‑aged patient population
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
Preferred Qualifications
  • A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
  • 1+ year of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $113,000–$173,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
