Retail Store Management Trainee

We are currently looking for the right Retail Store Management Trainee to join our team! $13.00 to $18.50 per hour
. This role is designed for external retail assistant managers and store managers interested in fast‑tracking into a Store Management position.

Required experience:

minimum 1 year retail management. Our retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, averaging an additional $6.39 per hour ON TOP OF YOUR HOURLY RATE.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Store Manager Trainee with a minimum of six (6+) months of store‑management experience. The Trainee will be accountable for day‑to‑day operations, promote a positive and productive environment, and partner with the Store Manager to lead and develop store employees, recruit and retain top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage customer relations.

Additional duties include analyzing financial statements, committing to the asset‑protection program, promoting the business, and targeting new customer acquisitions. All employees work with a wide variety of merchandise, including jewelry, tools, electronics, firearms (in FFL locations), and more.

This role offers an hourly wage, plus commissions based on productivity and a performance bonus.

Responsibilities of a Store Management Trainee
  • Facilitate a customer‑centric environment and address customer issues promptly.
  • Monitor and train Pawnbrokers to meet First Cash standards.
  • Recruit top talent through company‑prescribed channels.
  • Open and close the store, ensuring proper cash and merchandise procedures.
  • Protect assets through inventory control, property safety, documentation, and securing customer loans.
  • Administer store processes: inventory, loan management, merchandising, presentation, store systems, and enterprise reporting.
  • Evaluate financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal‑setting.
  • Ensure operating standards meet or exceed First Cash standards.
  • Monitor loan qualification and buying processes for value and integrity.
  • Complete assigned training tasks for self‑development.
  • Communicate clearly with employees about mission and profit objectives.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on product knowledge.
  • Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform duties for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Ability to work with firearms and obtain firearms certification.
  • Ability to assist customers outside the building or retrieve products from exterior storage.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
  • Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Store Manager Trainee will work 45+ hours per week; hours based on business needs, not guaranteed.
  • Computer literate, able to operate POS systems and office machines.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
