Concrete Carpenter
The Concrete Carpenter constructs, installs, and removes formwork used in concrete construction on field-based job sites. This role supports structural concrete pours including footings, slabs, walls, and columns, and works closely with laborers, ironworkers, and supervisors to ensure proper alignment, bracing, and layout in accordance with project specifications.
Responsibilities- Construct, install, and remove concrete formwork for structural elements such as footings, slabs, walls, and columns.
- Perform accurate formwork layout and installation in line with project drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and layout elevations to ensure correct dimensions and placement.
- Coordinate with laborers, ironworkers, and supervisors to support reinforcement placement and concrete pours.
- Set, align, and brace forms to maintain proper position and structural integrity during concrete placement.
- Use hand and power tools, including saws, drills, levels, and measuring devices, safely and efficiently.
- Assist with concrete placement support activities to ensure quality finishes and adherence to project requirements.
- Inspect and adjust forms, bracing, and framing to maintain accuracy and safety throughout the pour.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and equipment remain in good working condition.
- Follow all job site safety standards and procedures while working around heavy equipment and active pours.
- Work from heights, ladders, and scaffolding while maintaining safe practices.
- Communicate effectively with team members and follow directions in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of concrete carpentry experience, preferably in structural or heavy civil projects.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and layout elevations.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, including saws, drills, levels, and measuring devices.
- Strong knowledge of job site safety standards and OSHA awareness.
- Ability to perform formwork layout, installation, and bracing for structural concrete.
- Capability to work from heights, ladders, and scaffolding safely and confidently.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic in a field-based environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with laborers, ironworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to a fast-paced construction site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a structural concrete or heavy civil carpenter.
- Background in framing and bracing for concrete formwork.
- Familiarity with concrete placement support and reinforcement coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to operate tools safely and maintain a focus on hazard awareness on active job sites.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based on an outdoor construction site in Brownsville, TX, where you will work in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, and wind exposure. The schedule consists of full-time, project-based work with potential overtime depending on project needs. The role requires regular lifting of 50+ pounds, frequent climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. You will work around heavy equipment, active concrete pours, and multiple crews, using hand and power tools such as saws, drills, levels, and measuring devices while following strict safety procedures and site protocols.

This is a Contract position based out of Brownsville, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
