Water Meter Technician

Position Overview

The Water Meter Installation Technician will provide service for the installation of water meters at utility locations.

• Manage a daily schedule for work accomplishment.
• Accountability of assigned meters and conduct work within a work order management system.
• Remove old meters/registers and install new water meters/registers for residential and commercial uses.
• Perform water meter change-outs per the specified methodology.
• Manage inventory of new and old meters.
• Work with utility personnel and consumers.
• Maintain a professional manner, strong communication skills, and responsible use of a company truck.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Background check and drug screening (must complete).
• Firm understanding of mechanical principles and water‑meter principles.
• Computer skills: operating a PC, mobile handheld applications, email, and navigation systems.
• Professional manner and strong communication skills to the public, utility, and internal teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel and stay overnight 4–5 weeks during the work schedule.
• Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Capability to sit, reach, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as required.

Water meter and register exchange experience is required. On‑the‑job training and supervision will be provided prior to working independently.

Requires travel; willingness to travel/stay overnight as part of the work schedule.

Paid weekly. Rate of pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour.

Full time, Monday–Friday, 1st shift.
